EUROPEAN CHEER UNION On the 16th of September European Cheer Union (ECU) was founded in Paris. Along with the Slovenian Cheerleading Association founding members are also national federations from Germany, Norway, Denmark, Scotland, Russia and Switzerland. The ECU will, as a new carrier of the future of cheerleading in Europe, accepts all of the national federations as members and therefore unite all the athletes under one organization. International Cheer Union (ICU) and ECU had already exchanged words of mutual support and recognition. ECU has already announced that first European Championship will be held in first half of the June 2011.
ICU WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2010
CHEERLEADING SLOVENIAN NATIONAL TEAM IS EUROPEAN CHAMPION
The ICU European Open 2009 was held on September 26th in Paris. In the competition of 17 countries and over 1.000 competitors Slovenia has represented itself with excellence and won 11 medals! The Slovenian Cheerdance team (which was represented by 2009 national champions Tiger Cats) finished first in the category Hip Hop Cheerdance (National Team)! They also got 2nd in Jazz Cheerdance (National Team) and 3rd in Freestyle Cheerdance (National Team). We congratulate the girls for outstanding performance and results!
Other results from Slovenian teams include 2nd place of Sara Gruden and Matej Kavčnik (Frogs), 3rd place of Lina Kogoj and Danimir Azirovič (Flip) and 5th place of Ana Janko and Mitja Mehora (Flip) in Partner Stunts, 1st place of White Dragons in Senior Coed Groupstunt, 1st place of Sprites in Senior Allgirl Groupstunt (our friends from Trieste), 2nd place of Twist in Junior Coed Level 5, 1st place of Divas and 2nd place of Frogs in Junior Freestyle Cheerdance, 2nd place of Tiger Cats in Senior Hip Hop and Jazz Cheerdance, 4th place of Tiger Cats in Senior Freestyle Cheerdance. UNFORGATABLE MOMENTS OF THE ICU WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
SLOVENIA SUCCESSFULLY ON THE ICU WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Slovene national teams in cheerleading and cheer dance took part on the first ICU World Championship that was held 23 and 24 April in Orlando, USA. We are especially proud of the partner stunt couple Sara Gruden and Matej Kavčnik that placed 3rd and won first medal for Slovenia. They have also been the best partner stunt couple from Europe. Congratulation! Hovever we must not forget other national teams that competed in Freestyle cheer dance, Premier coed and Gruop stunt divisions. All of them had placed 8 place and shown that teams from Slovenia can cope with the best from the World. Results On the same venue the IASF World took place on 25 and 26 April. Slovenia has been represented by three teams: Twist Divas, Frogs and White Dragons Cheerleaders. Special congratulations also for these three teams. More obout IASF Worlds >>
